In Synja Khanty, the non-grammatical case-suffixes are attached to a modified form of the personal pronouns (i.e. the accusative-dative stem). Historically, the modified stems go back to a nominative stem + possessive suffix construction (Onina 2009: 30, Honti 1984: 70–73).
