Personal pronouns as subjects (Hungarian)

PPDrop: The presence of an independent pronoun in subject position is not required to replace a nominal agent.

(1) fut-ok.

run-prs.1sg

’I am running.’

(2) fut-nak.

run-prs.3pl

’They are running.’

Hungarian is a pro-drop language. The personal pronoun can be omitted in every person and number when it is the subject of the clause (cf. Kenesei et al. 1998: 66‒68).
