SOV: The basic word order is SOV.

(2) āŋki ńēwrem-əʌ ʌāpət-ʌ.

‘The mother is feeding her child.’

In Surgut Khanty, the subject is typically the first element of the sentence and the verb is the last. Everything else (including the object) is put between them.
