PredCop: The copula follows the nonverbal predicate.

(1) mā pӯrəs īmi wos-əm.

I old lady cop-1sg

‘I’m an old lady.’

(2) məŋ səməŋ-ət wos-əw.

we brave-pl cop-1pl

‘We are brave.’

In Surgut Khanty, the copula wos- is used with nominal predicates in the present tense, if the subject of the clause is in the first or second person. The copula behaves the same way as verbal predicates do, so it appears at the end of the sentence. In summary, both nominal (1) and adjectival (2) predicate bases precede the copula.
