In Synja Khanty, comparative meanings can be expressed using either the basic form of the adjective (1) or its comparative form with the ­-šǝk derivational suffix  (2), followed, in both cases, by the postposition ēʟti, which has and ablative meaning (cf. Honti 1984:  65‒66,  S.  O.). The comparative standard precedes the adjective, which is followed by the optional comparative marker.
