In Northern Mansi, declarative negation is coded by the base form of the verb and the at ‘not’ negative particle (1). In the imperative mood, the verb takes a special imperative suffix (cf. Riese 2001: 45). Prohibition is expressed by the imperative form of the verb and the ul ‘no’ negative particle (3) (Kálmán 1976: 68).
