Possessive marking in habitive constructions (Surgut Khanty)

NoAff: Possessed nouns are not marked with personal affixes.

(1) ma īki taj-ʌ-əm.

I husband possess-prs-1sg

’I have a husband.’

(2) īki mašina toj.

man car possess.pst.3sg

’The man has a car.’

The possessive relation is expressed by the transitive taj- ‘possess’ verb, which takes the possessed noun as its object. Due to the fact that the accusative case is not marked in Surgut Khanty, the possessed noun stands without an affix.
