Hungarian has proximal (ez, in the emphatic form emez) and distal (az, in the emphatic form amaz) demonstratives. The emphatic demonstrative pronouns do not differ in the coded distance from other demonstratives (cf. Kugler‒Laczkó 2000: 165‒168).
