InitIP: The word order of interrogative phrases is obligatorily sentence-initial.
(1) mikor esz-ik dóri csoki-t?
when eat-prs.3sg Dóri chocolate-acc?
‘When does Dori eat chocolate?’
(2) ki-vel együtt süt-i meg dóri a tortá-t?
who-com together bake-prs.obj.3sg pref Dóri the cake-acc?
‘Whom is Dori baking the cake with?’
In Hungarian, the question word always appears at the beginning of the neutral clauses (cf. Kenesei et al. 1998: 10).
