Associative plural (Northern Mansi)

SpAffPlAsc: A special affix on the noun is used to mark the associative plural.


(1) tēn   jaγ-āγi-ńś

they father-daughter-asc

’They are sisters.’ (Riese 2001: 23)


(2) āśǝ-ńś           min-as-ǝγ.

father-asc   go-pst-3pl

’Father and his companions left.’ (S. D.)


The Norther Mansi marker -ńś expresses family relations and plurality (1–2).
