Case agreement on noun adjuncts (Northern Mansi)

NoNXCaseAgr: There is no case agreement between head nouns and their adjuncts in general.


(1) asťupka ōjka juw-towenti.
Steven uncle home-row.prs.3sg
’Uncle Steven is rowing home.’ (S. D.)


(2) saša asťupka ōjka-nǝl juw-towenti. 
Saša Steven uncle-abl home-row.prs.3sg   
’Saša is rowing home from uncle  Steven.’ (S. D.)


There is no agreement between the adjunct and its head in Northern Mansi (Kálmán 1976, Riese 2001), and noun adjuncts are no exceptions.
