Pronominal and adnominal demonstratives (Northern Mansi)

AdnDem=DeclPronDem: Adnominal and pronominal demonstratives have identical stems, but they differ in their inflection (for example, the existence or type of agreement).

’I live in this house, and I study in that building.’ (S. D.)

(2) titi-n ōl-ēγ-ǝm, tota-n χańiśt-ēγ-ǝm.
this-loc live-prs-3sg that-loc study-prs-3sg
’I live in this one, and I study in that one.’ (S. D.)

In Northern Mansi, demonstrative pronouns cannot take suffixes in adnominal function (1) (Kálmán 1976: 51). Pronominal demonstrative pronouns, however, can have case-marking and number-indicating suffixes (2).
