Standard negation (Northern Mansi)

Sym: Standard negation is symmetric.

(1) χolǝm mān ūs-n min-ew.
tomorrow we town-loc go-prs.1pl
‘Tomorrow, we are going to the town.’ (S. D.)

(2) χolǝm mān ūs-n at min-ew.
tomorrow we town-loc neg go-prs.1pl
‘Tomorrow, we are not going to the town.’ (S. D.)

In Northern Mansi, the negation of the predicate is marked by a negative particle (cf. (1) and (2)), which is located immediately before the verb (if the verb has a prefix, the negative particle is put between them) (Kálmán 1976). The verb form is the same as in affirmative sentences.
