Word order of independent personal pronouns (Surgut Khanty)

PPV: Independent personal pronouns precede the verb in nominative constructions.


(1) qoʌtaɣiʌ wɔ̄č-nam mən-ʌ-əm, nüŋ jaqən ɔ̄məs-ʌ-ən.
tomorrow I town-apr go-prs-1sg you home sit-prs-2sg
‘Tomorrow, I’m going to the town and you are going to stay home.’ (L. N. K.)

In Surgut Khanty, the subject precedes the verb in accorcance with the SV word order, even if it is expressed by a pronoun.
