Associative plural (Synja Khanty)

SpAffPlAsc: A special affix on the noun is used to mark the associative plural.


(1) pox-sat ewi-sat wɔ̄s-a man-s-at.        

son-asc daughter-asc town-lat go-pst-3pl

’The siblings (brother and his group, sister and his group) went to the town.’ (S. O.)


The associative plural marker in Synja Khanty (-sat) can only be used with nouns that express family relations (someone’s son, daughter).
