Inclusivity in verbal inflection (Synja Khanty)

Pl1=Pl1: First-­person plural does not have an inclusive/exclusive distinction.


(1) xalewat min wɔ̄š-a man-lǝ-mǝn.

tomorrow we.du town-lat go-prs-1du

‘Tomorrow, the two of us (me and you) are going to the town.’  
‘Tomorrow, the two of us (me and he/she) are going to the town.’ (S. O.)


(2) xalewat muŋ wɔ̄š-a man-l-uw.

tomorrow we town-lat go-prs-1pl

’Tomorrow, we (me and you) are going to the town.’

’Tomorrow, we (me and they) are going to the town.’ (S. O.)


In Synja Khanty, the dual (1) and the plural (2) verb forms can express both inclusive and exclusive meanings (S. O.).
