In Synja Khanty, the possessor is always expressed by an unmarked adnominal noun, whereas the expression denoting the possessed entity can be either unmarked (1), or it can take a personal suffix (2) (cf. Abondolo 1998: 378–379, Honti 1984: 90–91, Nikolaeva 1999a: 79–84).
