Optative mood (Synja Khanty)

NoOptInfl: There is no distinct verbal paradigm to express the optative mood.

(1) śi molti śoxr-en par molti jam, muŋew ki lūlǝn ma-l-en!

‘Your knife is really good, I wish you gave it to me.’ (Honti 1984: 51)

In Synja Khanty, the optative mood is expressed by the indicative form of the verb and the lūlǝn and the āt ‘let’ particles (Honti 1984 50‒51, Nikolaeva 1999a: 25).
