In Synja Khanty, the passive voice has a complete verbal paradigm which means that the passive verbal suffixes have distinct forms in every number, person and tense (present and past). The passive marker is -aj which appears as -a in third person singular forms. The passive verb form is synthetic in Synja Khanty (Onina 2009: 41‒42, Honti 1984: 52‒53, Nikolaeva 1999a: 30‒33, Kulonen: 1989).
